The great variety of landscapes and environments available combined with the
year-round relatively good weather make East Africa a prime walking and
trekking destination. In order of physical demand: Mountain Treks Kilimanjaro takes at least 5 days to ascend and demands fitness combined with considerable
determination but is suitable for walkers. Mount Meru is a beautiful high volcano that is a worthy destination in its own right or
it can be used as training for Kilimanjaro. The ascent takes 3 to 4 days and is
demanding but suitable for walkers. Walking Safaris Our Crater Highland treks all involve walking from the Ngorongoro to Lake Natron. A great variety
of scenery is encountered, the walking is not strenuous but you walk about 5
hours each day. Ol Donyio Lengai is one of the very few active volcanoes. Its summit crater is easily
accessible and invariably there is some action to be seen. The ascent involves
a height gain of 1500m (5000ft) and takes 1 day, it is a steep rough trail
